Women are good at service. We’re good at being practical and getting what needs to be done accomplished. We’re good at being realistic. We’re good at making things work. Does it serve us though? Is it aligned with our beliefs and dreams? Are we aligned with who we, at our core, truly are?
What if service looked like transformation?
What if service looked like becoming our most authentic selves?
What if service looked like self-realization?
What if service looked like being uncomfortable for the sake of aligning with what is true and necessary for ourselves?
There is a deeper form of sacrifice that is required to stand up and be who we are, rather than the voice that says that it’s selfish to focus on yourself. That it’s a luxury. That it’s superfluous. It takes muscle and grit to stand up and say: “No, I won’t cave to the incongruence in my life and work. I’ll take a stand for my most authentic self.” Our culture wants us to move faster, better, and do more. How about slowing down, turning sideways, and walking toward the vision of what’s calling you? What if that was the driving force in your life?
Kristen Pressner’s TED Talk on unconscious bias (which I’ve previously referenced in this blog post) talks about her surprise at realizing- not that we carry unconscious bias against others- that’s relatively well understood- but that we carry unconscious bias against ourselves. Our own kind. When we’re run by our unconscious bias, our unconscious beliefs, we are on autopilot, numb to our power – our own conscious potential to be who we are, and to make the line between this life and our fantasy future selves dissolve.
Join me this fall and Step into Your Sovereignty 2.0 over the course of 12 weeks. Step out of the patterns running your life and into conscious creativity. Consciously create your vision. Tap into your creativity and engage with your life from a place of choice and authorship.
Why am I running this program? Why this focus? Why now? Because this is what keeps coming up, again and again, with the smart, successful, professional women I work with. Leaders and those who are being called to be brave. That we need to dive in deeper, invest more in ourselves, and tap into the real source of energy that we have to sustain us by getting behind ourselves in service of our dreams.
